This magnificent cheese board has a lovely design typical of the 1960s, this small round shaped cheese board signed VALLAURIS is an original mix of textures and colors in the center a flower on a shiny background of dark brown glaze surrounded by a vibrant and colorful range at the junction of the two cloudy white.
Marked "VALAURIS" on the base which is the French coastal town on the Cote d'Azur made famous when Pablo Picasso settled there in the 1948 and inspired a famous modernist ceramic studio movement in the region.
The carrying handle of the tray is in gold metal
